i dont think you understand how absolutely insane this is. like, it puts goncharov to shame.

brazilians started this entire elaborate made up telenovela called chinese foot (pé de chinesa). it's named that in reference to the practice of lotus feet. the general plot is around chinese & chinese descendants (a mix of china born and brazil born characters) in which the mc wishes to become the first chinese woman who's the drum section queen (rainha da bateria) of a carnaval samba school - very important role.

there has been multiple openins & endings produced. my favorite is this one (the soundtrack is a real fucking song made in 2007 for the telenovela chinese business (negócio da china) because sure. why not):

but there's many others more, including made up soundtracks and manipulated images of actors that are supposed to be in it. the actors, by the way, are a mix of condecorated brazilian actors (including fernanda montenegro who lost an oscar to gwyneth paltrow in 1999) alongside a bunch of influencers turned bad actors, ex reality show contestants and a collection of random subcelebrities. some really funny ones are: a race faker guy, a korean hypnosis magician, a horrible actress whos a nepo baby & a bunch of other random internet celebrities.

it's gotten so ridiculous wide spread to a point of random facebook users who are fans of the subcelebrities getting irate over it, people lying to their grandmas/boyfriends/moms about it, the famous telenovela writer glória perez (who they made the author) posting this:

"long live imagination!"

if you search pé de chinesa on twitter you will get many more memes, examples & made up information. official internet gossip pages are also part of the bit and are sharing fake information about it.

you guys WISH you were as dedicated as brazilians to the bit.

nobody is as committed to the bit as brazilians. every month there is a new goncharov in this country
